The CTA joined 90 other organizations in signing a letter advocating for increased funding to the Bureau of Land Management and National Conservation Lands. This letter was sent to both the House and Senate Interior Appropriations Committees ahead of the FY2020 Interior Appropriations bill.
To read the letter, please click here. You can also use this copy if you’d like to send it directly to your Representatives and/or Senators.
We were saddened and shocked to learn that a tornado hit Caddo Mounds State Historic Site yesterday during Caddo Culture Day. From what we understand, many visitors and staff were hospitalized and the tornado destroyed the visitor center, museum, and grass house.
We will share more information with our community as it becomes available.
We’re one week away from the spring meeting at Camp Mabry in Austin. As a friendly reminder, please renew your membership prior to the meeting (go to the Become a Member tab for instructions and to be redirected to our Wild Apricot service). You MUST be a paid professional or student member in order to vote on a number of items on the agenda.

The CTA was saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Bob Hard’s son, Christopher Hard. With our deepest sympathies, the CTA has made a donation of $192, a dollar for each of our members, to the Cibolo Nature Center & Farm (http://www.cibolo.org/) in his memory.
The 2019 TAS Academies (Rock Art and Lithics) are filling up fast! Interested in registering? See the attachments for more information, including dates and registration fees. Click here for the registration form.
Just an update to let you know that all tables for the CTA Career Social at the TAS meeting have now been reserved. But you can still make donations on our Square page (https://mkt.com/counciloftexasarcheologists…). Thanks for your support and see you next week in San Antonio!
The Fall Newsletter is now available. We are trying something a bit different this time around and displaying it in a PDF flipbook viewer. If you would still like to download a copy, please click the download icon in the top left-hand corner.
