Founded in 1981, SWCA Environmental Consultants (SWCA) is an employee-owned company comprised of over 1,600 environmental planners, biologists, geographic information systems (GIS) specialists, historic preservation specialists, archaeologists, anthropologists, geoarchaeologists, regulatory specialists, permit compliance managers, and public involvement specialists located in 43 offices across the United States, including four in Texas (Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Arlington). Our mission statement: Sound Science - Creative Solutions; illustrates our focus on helping clients accomplish their project goals, while still meeting their regulatory requirements in a cost effective, timely, and supportable manner. Our experienced archaeologists, architectural historians, and historians provide a full range of services including archaeological constraints analysis, survey, testing, data recovery excavations, historical studies, architectural assessments, preservation planning, and ethnographic studies. We have developed strong working relationships with many different regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE); the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT); the Texas Historical Commission (THC); and numerous state, county, and municipal agencies.
SWCA’s technical staff includes individuals with diverse expertise in natural resources; we offer NEPA documentation, EIS preparations, endangered species studies, geologic assessments and wetlands/Section 404 studies with our staff of experienced biologists and geologists. This allows SWCA to provide our clients with the complete suite of environmental regulatory compliance services. SWCA has assisted clients, both private and public, with a diversity of projects across the state, including pipelines, transmission lines, solar and wind farms, city and county park development, and transportation, to name just a few.
